Wichtig / Important: Laut offizieller TMDB-Dokumentation erfolgt die API-Beantragung über die Kontoeinstellungen, und der Ablauf ist nicht für Smartphones optimiert. Ein Computer oder Laptop ist daher am einfachsten.

Was ist ein API-Key?

Ein API-Key ist ein persönlicher Schlüssel. SerKal braucht diesen Schlüssel, damit Serieninformationen von TMDB gelesen werden können.

Gut zu wissen: TMDB sagt in der FAQ, dass die API für nicht-kommerzielle Nutzung kostenlos ist, solange TMDB als Quelle genannt wird.

Schritt für Schritt

  1. Browser öffnen
    Starte Firefox, Chrome oder Edge.
  2. TMDB-Webseite öffnen
    Gehe auf www.themoviedb.org.
  3. Konto erstellen
    Klicke oben rechts auf Join TMDB. Trage Benutzername, E-Mail-Adresse und Passwort ein.
  4. E-Mail bestätigen
    Öffne dein E-Mail-Postfach und klicke auf den Bestätigungs-Link von TMDB.
  5. Einloggen
    Gehe wieder auf TMDB und melde dich mit E-Mail-Adresse und Passwort an.
  6. Settings öffnen
    Klicke auf dein Profil oder Benutzer-Menü und dann auf Settings.
  7. API anklicken
    Wähle links den Punkt API.
  8. Formular ausfüllen
    Fülle die Felder einfach und kurz aus.
  9. API-Key kopieren
    Nach dem Absenden erscheint der Schlüssel. Meist wichtig: API Key (v3 auth).
  10. Sicher speichern
    Nicht öffentlich teilen.

Wenn etwas nicht klappt

  • Keine E-Mail angekommen: Spam-Ordner prüfen.
  • Am Handy zu unübersichtlich: lieber am PC weitermachen.
  • API-Menü fehlt: zuerst prüfen, ob die Anmeldung wirklich erfolgreich war.

What is an API key?

An API key is a personal key. SerKal needs this key so it can read TV show information from TMDB.

Good to know: TMDB says in its FAQ that the API is free for non-commercial use as long as TMDB is credited as the source.

Step by step

  1. Open a browser
    Start Firefox, Chrome, or Edge.
  2. Open the TMDB website
    Go to www.themoviedb.org.
  3. Create an account
    Click Join TMDB in the top-right corner. Enter a username, your email address, and a password.
  4. Confirm your email
    Open your email inbox and click the confirmation link from TMDB.
  5. Sign in
    Go back to TMDB and sign in with your email address and password.
  6. Open Settings
    Click your profile or user menu, then open Settings.
  7. Click API
    In the left sidebar, choose API.
  8. Fill in the form
    Keep the answers simple and short.
  9. Copy the API key
    After submitting, the key appears. The most important entry is often API Key (v3 auth).
  10. Store it safely
    Do not share it publicly.

If something does not work

  • No email arrived: check the spam folder.
  • The page is confusing on a phone: continue on a desktop computer.
  • The API menu is missing: first make sure the login really worked.
